Our objectives at Bluefield Dance Theatre is to give quality instruction with the student’s individual achievement level in mind. We feel that development of their coordination, poise, grace, physical and mental discipline will help them not only in these classes, but contribute toward a healthy mind and body motivated by proper value.

Dancing is hard work, concentration and coordination, but above all Dancing is fun. A concentrated fun that creates a quality almost otherwise unobtainable both for you and your child

Thank you for choosing Bluefield Dance Theatre in which to study the Art of dance. We shall do our best to make this year a truly great learning experience through dance education. You may be assured that although you are not present at every class, you child is being instructed and disciplined in a manner keenly associated with progress and efficient dance training.

Randy’s dance training began at early age of eight at the Gaynell Leigh Studio of Dance, Hilly Kurtz and continued dance with Jerry & Sherry Rose at Dance Theatre School in Beckley, West Virginia.  Randy opened his first studio in Mullens, West Virginia then later opened a school in Oak Hill, West Virginia.   At the age of sixteen Randy was a dancer and performer in the outdoor musical “Honey In The Rock” throughout his high school years.
Bluefield Dance Theatre the home studio was opened in 1970 while attending college and earning his BS degree in education.  Randy furthered his dance education attending teacher training seminars and classes at Radford University and working with Robert Lundgren at North Carolina School of The Arts and Joseph Levinoff.  He has been a national judge for dance competitions as well as convention director for Dance Troupe also has choreographed many award winning numbers and choreographed for local and state pagents including a routine for Miss West Virginia in the Miss America Pagent in Atlantic City.  Film credits include the blockbuster hit “Dirty Dancing.”
Although Randy’s personal qualifications, accomplishments and success are extensive he has chosen to share these experiences with others though the application of dance.  As owner, director, choreographer of Bluefield Dance Theatre an area business providing an outstanding dance education for children of all ages.   Randy has developed a comprehensive dance education program for recreational and competitive dancers alike.  This program continues to offer his students the opportunity to be involved in constructive and culturally enriched environments promoting the arts.
Randy is married to his wife Nancy who is also owner/director of Bluefield Dance Theatre.
They have one daughter Leslie who is also a dancer and owner of Greensboro Dance Theatre.   She and her husband reside in Greensboro, North Carolina with our two awesome grandsons, Noah and Reichen.
